BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport is served by the BWI rail station on the MARC Penn Line (and Amtrak). A free shuttle bus links the terminal and the station every 10 to 15 minutes, around the clock.

MARC Penn Line

  • Station: BWI Airport — next trains and first and last departures.
  • Time: about 35 minutes to Washington Union Station, according to the airport.
  • Fare: $8 one way between BWI and Union Station. Buy with the CharmPass app or at a ticket machine before boarding.
  • Weekends: the Penn Line is the only MARC line that runs on weekends.
  • From Union Station, take the Metrorail Red Line or plan your trip with the trip planner.

Other options

  • Amtrak also stops at the BWI rail station (about 30 minutes to Union Station, separate tickets).
  • MTA Commuter Bus 201 runs between BWI and Shady Grove Metrorail station (Red Line), in about 1 hour 10 minutes.
